The Super Eagles’ Group C 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying opponent, Rwanda, has appointed German-born Torsten Frank Spittler as their new head coach.
The Rwanda Football Association (FERWAFA) announced Spittler’s appointment in a communiqué on their X handle.
“FERWAFA is pleased to announce that Mr. Torsten Spittler Frank (61) has been appointed as the new head coach of Rwanda’s men’s national team.
“Mr. Torsten Spittler Frank is a German-certified scientist, trained lawyer with a Masters Degree in Sports Science as well as a holder of a UEFA Pro-License, with 18 years of coaching experience in Germany, Canada, Malaysia, among others and 12 years in football development as a technical director, coach and fitness instructor in countries such as Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Egypt among others.
“We wish him success during his tenure.”
Rwanda will first meet the Super Eagles in the World Cup qualifiers in March 2025 before travelling to Nigeria for the second leg on September 2025.
Other teams in Group C are South Africa, Benin Republic, Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
