Wuse, who represents Tafa State Constituency, was nominated by the immediate past Speaker, Ahmed Marafa.

The first-term lawmaker is a former Chairman of the Tafa Local Government Area and former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General in the administration of ex-Governor Babangida Aliyu.

The lawmakers also elected the member representing Bida I State Constituency, Bako Alfa, as the Deputy Speaker.

The Clerk of the House of Assembly inaugurated the Speaker and his deputy.

Members of the Cross River State House of Assembly on Tuesday elected a new Speaker, Eteng Williams, through a consensus arrangement.

His emergence as well as other leaders of the ninth assembly followed the decision of the leadership of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the state and the governor to zone the positions of principal officers of the House in a manner that no section of the state would be marginalised.
