Joint Security Forces Raid Kidnappers Den In Anambra

The joint security operatives in Anambra State have launched a major raid on a suspected hideout of gunmen and kidnappers at Enugwu-Agidi, in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The operation led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s security outfit, Operation Udo Ga-Achi, took place around 1 a.m., with many of the hoodlums reportedly fleeing with injuries as the security forces overran their base.

The strike force recovered a cache of weapons and other items.

Among the seized weapons were two AK-47 rifles, eight pump-action guns, four locally made pistols, three packets of cartridges containing 101 rounds, four empty AK-47 magazines, three cutlasses, a Baofeng radio, a motorcycle, and several charms.

The Operation Udo Ga-Achi troops carried out the raid in collaboration with the police, Department of State Services (DSS), military, and other security agencies.

According to sources, the operation was based on intelligence reports. One gunman was arrested, and he is presently helping in further investigation.

Since the launch of the Operation Udo Ga-Achi Strike Force, six criminal camps have reportedly been dismantled across the state.

Anambra had faced persistent security challenges, with numerous cases of killings and kidnappings, but the tide has changed with the kinetic and non-kinetic security approach of the state government.

The Anambra State Police spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, is yet to release an update on the development, but the operation has been confirmed by the state government through the office of the Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
