Students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Monday, staged a protest against the hike in the acceptance fees for fresh students.
The protesting students also called for the resignation of the rector of the school as they kicked against the delay in the release of their results and the shortage of staff members in the school during their protest.
Some of the placards displayed by the students read ‘Give Us Mohbad, Take MAPOLY Rector, Odedeji David,’ ‘Rector Must Go, DSA Must Go,’ ‘We Are Not Rich, We Are Struggling, We Are Not Ritualists, Odedeji Revert our Fees To Normal, Stop Delaying Our Results’ among others.
Babatunde Adelola, the Students Union President of the school said the management increased acceptance fee for fresh students from N35,000 to N50,500.
According to him, all efforts made by the student body to have a dialogue with the Rector of the school, Adeoye Odedeji, have been futile due to his unavailability.
