A popular Nigerian Afrobeat singer and record producer, Chisom Faith, popularly known as Rexxie, has been arrested in Uganda.
The singer revealed this early Monday morning via his Instagram page.
The ‘KPK’’ crooner said he was being held by the Ugandan immigration officers.
But SaharaReporters could not independently ascertain the cause of his arrest.
While pleading for assistance, the producer asked his followers and his fellow countrypeople to demand his release using the hashtag “UgandaFreeRexxie.”
He wrote, “I’ve been arrested at the Ugandan Immigration. Pls I need help.”
A further check on his Instagram page showed that Rexxie was in Kenya three days ago for a show.
The singer is popular for creating the Zanku sound and producing Naira Marley’s Soapy, Tesumole and the song KPK with the late MohBad.
In 2020, the Uganda Police Force arrested two Nigerian singers, Omah Lay and Tems, for flouting COVID-19 guidelines. They were arrested after their performances at The Big Brunch, which was held at Speke Resort, Wavamunno Rd, Kampala, Uganda.
The singers were eventually released after spending three days in a Ugandan prison.
