The IRGC emphasised that the arrests were part of an ongoing effort to counter foreign interference, particularly from Israel, which has been accused of coordinating such activities in response to the failure of its broader strategic goals.
“As the Zionist regime (Israel) and their Western backers, most notably the United States, have not succeeded in their sinister goals against the people of Gaza and Lebanon, they are now seeking to spread the crisis to Iran with a series of actions planned against our country’s security,” the statement said.
This announcement follows the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in late July, an act Iranian authorities have blamed on Israel,
Israel has not claimed responsibility for it.
