A pastor, Reverend Alaku Vincent, has died during a child dedication service at the Church of the Brethren (EYN) Moduganari, Maiduguri, Borno State.

The tragic incident occurred on Sunday while the pastor was leading the ceremony.

Vincent reportedly collapsed in the middle of the dedication and lost consciousness. Despite immediate efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead shortly after the collapse.

The cause of death remains unknown at this time.

Social media tributes have flooded in, with church members and colleagues mourning the loss of their beloved pastor.

The District Church Secretary of Church Brethren of Nigeria, Timothy Hammajam, shared his condolences on Facebook, saying, “KBC DCM 2003 graduating class will ever miss your elderly and prophetic words. May God comfort EYN and your family.”

A church member, Prince Malikson Papaman, also shared a tribute, recalling the pastor’s final sermon: “Just a few hours ago, he stood confidently on the altar… passionately shepherding his flock.

“His powerful message still resonates in my mind, as he emphasized the importance of family unity in worship. Little did I know it would be his final sermon.”

Papaman further expressed the grief of the community, stating that Vincent’s departure has left an “unfillable void” but found solace in scripture, adding, “Rest in eternal peace, Rev. Vincent Alaku. Until we meet again.”

Hammajam wrote, “Rev. Alaku Vincent (KZ Master) A Visionary leader with focus. May your soul rest in peace. “KBC DCM 2003 graduating class will ever miss your elderly and prophetic words. May God comfort EYN and your family. Rest in peace till we come brother.”

Papaman also wrote, “Dear EYN LCC Moduganari members, My heart bleeds as I struggle to come to terms with the loss of our beloved Pastor, Rev. Vincent Alaku 💔. Just few hours ago, he stood confidently on the altar, clad in his white gown, with the black veil of his mantle draped around his neck, passionately shepherding his flock.

“His powerful message still resonates in my mind, as he emphasized the importance of family unity in worship. Little did I know it would be his final sermon.

“Farewell, dear Pastor Vincent. Your departure leaves an unfillable void. I’m honored to have been under your guidance. Your legacy will live on in our hearts.

“As the Bible assures us, your death is but a sleep, and I take comfort knowing you now rest at the right hand of God Almighty. May the Holy Spirit, our Great Comforter, envelop your family, friends, and the entire body of Christ in solace and peace.

“Rest in eternal peace, Rev. Vincent Alaku. Until we meet again.”
