This drastic decision comes hot on the heels of Etukudoh’s statement regarding the statewide power outage that began on Wednesday.
Governor Umo Eno has sacked Engr. Meyen Etukudoh as Managing Director and CEO of Ibom Power Company (IPC), effective immediately.
This decision was announced through a statement signed by Prince Enobong Uwah, the Secretary to the State Government, which was released to the press in Uyo on Thursday evening.
This drastic decision comes hot on the heels of Etukudoh’s statement regarding the statewide power outage that began on Wednesday.
According to Etukudoh, the outage was sparked by a disagreement between Ibom Power and its gas supplier, Savannah Energy Company.
“As part of the ongoing restructuring of this administration, in alignment with the government’s objectives in the power sector under the ARISE Agenda, Governor Umo Eno has relieved the Managing Director of Ibom Power Company Limited, Engr. Meyen Etukudoh, of his duties effective November 14, 2024,” the statement read.
He has been directed to hand over the reins to the Commissioner for the Ministry of Power, who will assume oversight responsibilities for the company’s operations until further notice.
The governor expressed gratitude for Etukudoh’s service to the state and wished him well in his future pursuits.
