Boeing boss Dave Calhoun to step down

Announcement is part of a series of top-level staff changes at embattled US planemaker.

Boeing says Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dave Calhoun will step down at the end of the year, as part of a management shake-up at the embattled US aircraft manufacturer.

The company also said on Monday that chair Larry Kellner would leave the board and be replaced Steve Mollenkopf. Stan Deal, Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and CEO, would retire, with Stephanie Pope to lead that business.

Calhoun has been under pressure since a 737 MAX plane door blew out 16,000 feet above the ground.

Boeing is facing heavy regulatory scrutiny and US authorities curbed production while it attempts to fix safety and quality issues.
