Breaking: DSS invites Two Siblings Of Suspended EFCC Chairman, Bawa, for questioning.

The DSS operatives also grilled the chief of staff to the embattled, suspended EFCC chairman, Hadiza Gamawa, alongside his legal adviser, U.U. Buhari.

The Department of State Services, Nigeria’s secret police, has reportedly invited two brothers of the suspended chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, for questioning.

DailyNigerian gathered that the secret police invited Bawa’s two brothers, Yazid Bawa (who also works at the EFCC) and Bashir Bawa (who works at the Nigerian Communications Commission) and seized a bulletproof car and a latest Mercedes-Benz allegedly found with them.

The DSS operatives also grilled the chief of staff to the embattled, suspended EFCC chairman, Hadiza Gamawa, alongside his legal adviser, U.U. Buhari.

The suspects were reportedly detained on August 25 and released a few days later.

On August 31, the SSS operatives also arrested Mr Bawa’s personal assistants, Rufa’i Zaki, and Daniela Jimoh.

Recall that Bawa was suspended indefinitely from office by President Bola Tinubu on June 14.

The government had said his suspension was to allow for a thorough investigation into his conduct while in office, following “weighty allegations” of abuse of office against him.

Since then, Bawa has remained in the detention of the secret police without prosecution.

This has led to calls from eminent Nigerians, including lawyers and civil society organisations to press for his release or prosecution in a competent court of law.

SaharaReporters had reported how Abdulrasheed Bawa, who is still in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) was taken from the headquarters of the secret police to a private facility,

SaharaReporters had exclusively reported that Bawa had refused to write statements at the secret police’s facility.

It was learnt that Bawa told investigators that the DSS had no right to detain him without charges, hence his refusal to write any statements in custody.
