The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) and the country’s Defence Ministry are planning to evacuate civilians who reside in towns that are situated in areas up to 2 kilometres from the Lebanese border.

The areas have been repeatedly struck by Hezbollah and allied Palestinian factions in recent days.

The National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) of Israel’s Ministry of Defence and the Israeli Defence Forces announced the plan.

In a post on its X (formerly Twitter) handle, IDF stated that 28 communities have been included in the plan that has been approved by Israel’s Defence Minister Yoav Gallant.

IDF said that the residents would be moved to the state-funded guest house.

The statement reads, ” The National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) of the Ministry of Defense and the IDF are announcing the implementation of a plan to evacuate residents of northern Israel who live in the area up to 2 kilometers from the Lebanese border to state-funded guesthouses.

“The implementation of the plan was approved by Minister of Defense, Yoav Gallant. A short while ago, the Northern Command updated the heads of the local authorities on to the decision. The plan will be implemented by the heads of the local municipalities, the Ministry of Interior and the National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) of the Ministry of Defense.

“The 28 communities included in the plan are: Ghajar, Dishon, Kfar Yuval, Margaliot, Metula, Avivim, Dovev, Ma’ayan Baruch, Bara’m, Manara, Yiftach, Malkia, Misgav Am, Yir’on, Dafna, Arab al-Aramshe, Shlomi, Netu’a, Ya’ara, Shtula, Matat, Zari’t, Shomera, Betzet, Adamit, Rosh HaNikram, Hanita and Kfar Giladi.”
