Chevron Company Retirees Protest At Lagos Headquarters

The protesters also sought clarification on whether the company had divested from Nigeria, accusing it of neglecting its commitments to pensioners.

Chevron Nigeria Limited retirees on Tuesday protested at the company’s Lagos headquarters over alleged grievances.

The retirees, carrying placards with messages such as “We say no to dissolution of CNCPFA”, “Chevron stop discrimination against retirees”, and “Nigeria is a sovereign nation: respect our laws above your policies”, expressed frustration over unpaid pensions and outsourcing of their pension fund.

“Chevron, treat us like other IOCs. Be considerate for once,” one of the placards read, highlighting their demand for fair treatment.

The protesters also sought clarification on whether the company had divested from Nigeria, accusing it of neglecting its commitments to pensioners.

A placard detailed their grievances, which included: “Breaking Nigerian law, disdain for pensioners, non-engagement of PenCon, and frozen pension for decades.”
