The newly posted Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi state, Anthonia Uche-Anya has said she is committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the police mandate of protecting lives and properties.

Uche-Anya made this known while addressing a group of journalists on Tuesday at the Police headquarters in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital, as she officially resumed duties.

The new CP arrived at a colourful reception, where she inspected a guard of honour, before proceeding for an initial meeting with heads of units in the command.

She also assured to work in collaboration with sister security agencies, to fulfil the mandate given to her by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, as she seeks the support of all relevant stakeholders in discharging her responsibilities.

“My business here is to ensure security of lives and properties in Ebonyi state.

“I enjoin all relevant stakeholders to team up with me to ensure maintenance of law and order, as well as ensure security of lives and properties”.

“I assure to also collaborate with all other sister security agencies in ensuring this, and harnessing our strength and resources to achieve that because security is everybody’s business and we’re all pursuing the same goal, that’s just my business here, to ensure lives and properties are secured”.

Anthonia Uche-Anya holds master’s degrees in law and Security and Strategic studies respectively. She is a fellow of the National Defence College and a member of several professional bodies and associations.

She currently serves as the 27th Commissioner of Police, Ebonyi state police command, taking over from Augustina Ogbodo who was recently promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police.

The Imo State-born officer was until her appointment, Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration, Force Intelligence Department (FID), Abuja and has served in different Police commands and formations across the country.
