EKITI DECIDES 2018 : PROF. ELEKA RECEIVES PDP FLAG AHEAD OF JULY 14 ELECTION
The Peoples Democratic Party PDP, presented its flag to the governorship candidate, Prof Olushola Eleka, on Thursday at a PDP mega rally staged on the highway at the foot of the flyover in Ojumose area of Ado-Ekiti, the State Capital, ahead of the July 14 governorship election in Ekiti State.
Mammoth crowd of party members, workers’ unions, students, youths, utilised the opportunity to attend the rally.
Also in attendance was the present governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prince Uche Secondus, various PDP State governors and past governors, National leaders including former Vice-President and presidential aspirant, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
In his address, Fayose lambasted the All Progressive Congress APC, while also taking a swipe at President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said “A vote for APC, is a vote for Boko-Haram and Fulani herdsmen. In PDP, we believe in human beings and not cows.
“Nigerians are no longer living in the dark, and we are having problems in this country because an old man is our president. When I look at the President of Nigeria and I see the President Of France, I sigh. This country does not deserve an old man to rule her. He should retire.”
Fayose went further to place the body in charge of handling elections in the country, The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, on alert ahead of the election, alleging that the PDP is paying close attention to avoid rigging during the polls.
“We will follow the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, closely because we know their plans and how they are planning to rig the election for APC and Fayemi, by giving ballot papers to them.”
He added, “We are not interested in violence because Ekiti is a violent free state and we love peace. I have been governor of Ekiti for four years and never had there been any violence or political instability.
Come July 14, I urge the people of Ekiti to vote Prof Olushola Eleka into the seat of governor, of Ekiti State.
Before handing the party’s flag to its candidate, Olushola Eleka, The Party National Chairman PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, applauded the good works of the PDP in the State, and also charged the people of Ekiti to shun Fayemi and the APC during the polls and vote Olushola Eleka, sighting that a vote for APC is a vote in favour of Herdsmen and insecurity.
“I want to thank the good people of Ekiti State for standing by PDP. To the glory of God, Ekiti people are very peaceful and I believe that Ekiti is one of the states with the highest level of manpower in the country. Our youths are resourceful and not lazy.
“We can see the good works of PDP in Ekiti, and it is so evident in all PDP States. PDP is ready to do more for you.
He added. “As you can see today, there is killing in different states of the country, especially in Zamfara, Taraba, Benue and Plateau. How long shall we endear this genocide? It is the style of the APC government to strike fear and intimidation into our hearts.
“However, the PDP is rebranded and repositioned; we are here to rescue Nigeria from total insecurity, from collapse and from hardship Nigerians are presently going through under the APC government.
“People of Ekiti must refuse APC and Fayemi, because if they vote Fayemi, they should know that they are inviting herdsmen to take over their Lands.
“I urge them to vote for Prof. Olushola Eleka. He is the right man for Ekiti.”
Upon receiving the PDP flag, Prof Olushola, thanked the people and assured Ekiti of progress and continuity of the good works the PDP has been doing under the Fayose-Led administration.
“I want to assure Ekiti people that by the grace of God Almighty, we shall sustain the good legacies of Gov Ayodele Fayose if elected.
We shall improve on his prominent works.
“I want the people of Ekiti to be assured of adequate security, health care delivery, excellent infrastructure, excellent economy, good education, agricultural advancement.
“Ekiti people should be assured of excellent leadership and governance. We are ready to serve and discharge our duties to the good people of Ekiti if voted into office” he said.
