FEC APPROVES N27.4BN FOR VICTIMS OF FLOODING/INSECURITY IN 14 STATES
The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved N27.4bn as intervention fund to assist victims of flood disasters and insecurity in 14 states.
The money was broken into N8.5bn for victims of conflicts and another N18.9bn for flood victims.
The states to benefit from the N8.5bn are Adamawa, Benue, Borno, Plateau, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara.
The flood victims to benefit from the N18.9bn are in Adamawa, Anambra, Beyelsa, Benue, Delta, Edo, Jigawa, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Rivers, Sokoto and Taraba states.
The Governor of Kebbi State, Mr Atiku Bagudu, spoke to newsmen on the decisions taken at the meeting, which was held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Bagudu, who doubles as the vice chairman of National Food Security Council, said FEC approved the money to help the victims to resettle and resume economic activities.
The governor said, “While support has been given in terms of accommodation and welfare, the national food security council considered the importance of helping them restore their livelihood activities.”
