SaharaReporters on Wednesday reported that the student identified as Joshua Èjuojo Daniel-Ejigbo had died while exercising at the campus gymnasium.
No fewer than five stab wounds were found on the back and ribs side of a 100-level computer science student of Veritas University Abuja who died on Tuesday, SaharaReporters has learnt.
SaharaReporters on Wednesday reported that the student identified as Joshua Èjuojo Daniel-Ejigbo had died while exercising at the campus gymnasium.
It was gathered that the deceased was exercising when he started foaming in the mouth and subsequently slumped around 9 pm on Tuesday.
A source told SaharaReporters that the University called his father to inform him about the incident around 11 pm on Tuesday.
Dr. Sanni Bil-hissan who spoke on behalf of the University confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters on Wednesday.
However, a human rights lawyer, Mr Deji Adeyanju, who is representing the family told SaharaReporters that the parents of the deceased student suspected foul play and gross negligence.
“The parents of the deceased student suspect foul play and gross negligence,” he said.
However, a family source told SaharaReporters on Thursday that they found five stab wounds on the back and ribs side of the deceased student.
“The school laid him down on the stretcher in the mortuary where they dumped him at Fatima Hospital, Bwari before we transferred the body to the mortuary at the National Hospital in Abuja.
“The body was prepared and handed over to the parent as if nothing happened. When we turned him over, blood started coming out of his mouth,” the source added.
Efforts to reach the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, to find out if the student’s death was being investigated failed.
