Fulham eyeing a late move for Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi.

Fulham are eyeing a late move for Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi as he could be surplus to requirements at Goodison Park, according to Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported on its website on Tuesday that the Cottagers were eyeing a deal for the Nigerian, as they look to improve their attacking options following the sale of Aleksandar Mitrovic to Saudi side Al-Hilal for £46m.

It said the Toffees may sanction a move for the 27-year-old after signing Arnaut Danjuma and Jack Harrison.

Although Everton have managed to bring in a couple of other options out wide in the form of Danjuma and Harrison, Iwobi has been an important player since manager Sean Dyche arrived at the club.

Iwobi had told PUNCH Sports Extra recently about his wish to play Champions League football again, but since there has been no offer in that regard, he might be willing to make a return to London if talks of being surplus to requirements at Everton is anything to go by.

He has started in every game he’s been available for since the Toffees boss joined in January, before picking up an injury in the defeat against Aston Villa that sidelined him for the loss at home to Wolves on Saturday.

He has taken on a deeper role at Goodison Park since his switch from Arsenal, racking up nine goals and 16 assists from 140 appearances with the Toffees.

With £46m from the sale of Mitrovic in their pocket, Fulham might not have any financial problems to sanction a deal.

If that happens, the midfielder will become Fulham’s fourth summer signing and will join compatriot, Calvin Bassey, who arrived from Ajax for £18.2m at Craven Cottage.

Everton sit bottom of the Premier League table after three matches and have a crucial early relegation battle with newly-promoted Sheffield United this weekend.

Fulham, meanwhile, have endured a mixed bag of results to start the new Premier League campaign, beating Everton before losing 3-0 to Brentford and holding Arsenal 2-2.
