Ganduje’s Prosecution Will Continue, Kano Anti-Graft Agency Insists

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) have stated that the Chairman of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) is still facing prosecution for alleged bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds.

The Chairman of the Commission, Muhuyi Rimingado, who spoke to newsmen on Monday, said he won’t cower into discontinuing the case against the former Kano governor.

When he was asked whether the prosecution of the ex-governor would continue despite his recent arrest, Rimingado said, “Yes, we are prosecuting him in person.”

“In fact, we have started this investigation since 2021. I was made to leave and passed through a series of tribulation including arrest, detention, assault and humiliation.

“When I came back, I continued from where I stopped. So, I am not witch-hunting anybody.”

A Kano State High Court adjourned the hearing of preliminary objections in Ganduje’s case to February 13, 2025.

The case, instituted by the Kano State Government, involves an eight-count charge of bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds allegedly amounting to billions of naira. Alongside Ganduje, the defendants include his wife, Hafsat Umar, and others: Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lasage General Enterprises Limited.

Meanwhile, last week, President Bola Tinubu appointed Ganduje as the board chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
