Pastor Michael Ogundepo, 39, has been arrested by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, on suspicion of visa fraud.
The suspect obtained N1.67 million, according to a statement made on Monday in Akure by DSC Aidamenbor Daniel, the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), to secure a visa for a woman named Miss Fagbuyiro Ajetomobi-Yemi.
Daniel continued by saying that Ogundepo of No. 15 Ewu Agbo Street, Ikorodu Lagos, confiscated the complainant’s money and passport for two months, preventing her from applying for a new visa.
The statement reads: “The command invited the suspect severally, but he declined the invitation. He claimed to be outside the country and used a fake international number to call the complainant as a disguise.
“So, the suspect was arrested when he was invited to collect the sum of N3,000,000 for a Visa job, without him knowing it was a bait.
“However, investigation has revealed that he has duped several other unsuspecting clients,” the NSCDC PRO statement added.
The security operatives stated that following the conclusion of the investigation, the suspect would be charged in court and he would be charged for breaching Ondo State’s 2006 Criminal Code Law, Section 419, Cap. 37, Vol. 1.
