It was gathered that the development caused heavy traffic on the road, with many motorists and travellers left stranded.

Residents of Goningora community in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Thursday blocked the Abuja-Kaduna highway in protest against bandit attacks on the community.

Channels Television reports that bandits on Wednesday night attacked the community, killed two people including a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force and kidnapped several members of the community with several others injured.

Following the attack and the killing, the aggrieved residents of the community took to the streets on Thursday morning, blocked the busy Abuja-Kaduna highway and demanded security and protection from the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.

It was gathered that the development caused heavy traffic on the road, with many motorists and travellers left stranded.

The latest attack on Goningora community comes barely a week after soldiers killed a notorious bandit kingpin, Boderi Isyaku, and some of his fighters in the area.

An armoured vehicle was said to have been set ablaze by the bandits when soldiers attempted to repel them.

During the protest, one of the protesters pointing at soldiers said in pidgin English, “If you people cannot help us, who will help us?”
