KATSINA HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY ELECTS NEW SPEAKER

Tasi-u Maigarin has been elected on Monday, as the new speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly.

He was unanimously elected by the 32 members of the house who attended the plenary. The House has 34 members.

The new Speaker is from Zango Local Government Area of the state and he represents the Zango Constituency.

Ibrahim Dikko from Matazu Constituency moved the motion for the election of the new Speaker while Sani Lawan from Baure Constituency seconded it.

There was no opposition to the motion.

The new Speaker was then sworn in by the House Clerk, Musa Bakore.
Maigarin and the former Speaker are members of the All Progressives Congress.
The House of Assembly has, however, adjourned sitting till January 14, 2019
