‘KEEP YOUR IGBO PRESIDENCY AGENDA’, MASSOB TELLS BUHARI
The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has reprimanded President Muhammadu Buhari over his Tuesday assertion that “the political future of Ndigbo is dependent on” his re-election in 2019, dismissing the President’s remarks as empty political rhetoric.
At a mega rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Owerri, Imo State on Tuesday, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha, who represented Buhari, said that Buhari’s re-election in 2019 would decide the political fate of Ndigbo.
But MASSOB in a swift response yesterday, dismissed the statement credited to the President as “hypocritical and deceptive” meant to deceive only the gullible.
In a statement he personally signed, MASSOB Leader, Mr. Uchenna Madu, said that Buhari did not have “what it takes to decide the political future of a multi- talented, highly innovative and populous nation like the Igbo.”
Madu described Buhari‘s comment “as another hypocritical plan to deceive the people of Biafra”, adding that the people are wiser and politically educated now than ever.”
He said: “Our political future and every other futuristic existence of Ndigbo can never be depended or attached to President Muhammadu Buhari or any other Hausa-Fulani man.
“We are not bothered about the statement because the people of Biafra are no longer easier to penetrate with frivolous, empty, deceitful and hypocritical statements.”
According to Madu, Ndigbo are more preoccupied with the restoration of Biafra Republic than producing the President of Nigeria under the current skewed political structure.
“Even the political errand men of President Mohammed Buhari in his APC from Biafra land can no longer perform positively because our people are more conscious of Biafra than Igbo political interest in Nigeria.
“It is an abomination and a taboo in Igbo land to say or think that Ndigbo will depend or rely on Hausa-Fulani man for political, economic, academic, social, and religious survival unless President Muhammadu Buhari is referring to the misguided and uncultured Igbos in APC,” he said.
MASSOB vowed to collaborate with other pro-Biafra groups to frustrate Buhari’s second term bid, and ultimately liberate Ndigbo and other ethnic nationalities in Biafra land from “the political bondage called Nigeria.”
