Following calls by different Civil Society Organisations and other influential bodies in the country, the Government is bound to make some clarifications on the deal that gives Jersey Incorporated Company and it Ghana Affiliates 75.6% of royalties payable to government.

The Minerals Income Investment Fund was recently amended. Already, the deal has been criticised by many who described it as a way of mortgaging Ghanaā€™s mineral resources.

ā€œIf I become president, I will not accept that dealā€, he threatened. According to him, ā€œthe people of Ghana do not accept that dealā€ since, in his view, ā€œit is against the money laundering rulesā€.

ā€œIf you look at the people who put this together, they are people close to the President and already they have been paid two million dollarsā€, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress claimed.

ā€œThis President and his family think they can do anything and get away with it,ā€ Mr Mahama said.
