In his statement, Babafemi said that Naira Marley was well received by the NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.) when the artist paid a visit to the National Headquarters of the agency.

He also released a song dedicated to marijuana titled ‘Marry Juana’.

The news of Naira Marley’s appointment has become a subject of discourse among Nigerian Tweeps on X, with many of them, saying the artist is not qualified to be used for its campaign against drug abuse considering his lifestyle.

An X user, Babatunde Akin questioned the rationale behind the choice of Naira Marley by NDLEA management.

He said, “What kind of message are you people at NDLEA passing out to the youths??? This is so so Low I never expected this from our former Governor Military Administrator in Lagos Col. Buba Marwa seriously the Hunter and the Hunted dining together!”

Another user, Nwachi202 described Naira Marley’s appointment as an indication of how past criminals in the country are left unpunished while law enforcement agents concentrate on innocent people.  The X user said, “Just like Nigeria politicians and EFCC  the real criminals and yahoo yahoo na our politicians while efcc are catching innocent citizens naira Marly na real drug abuser.”

“Nigeria is the most useless country I have ever seen. I love Naira Marley, but making him this just shows how legal drugs is allowed here. Why? When your president was a drug dealer. My advice to every youth as me, do whatever you have to, money stops nonsense,” another user, Joe Angeluxs said.

According to Sen. Ben-10, the recent relationship between NDLEA and Naira Marley is hilarious and could be described as a comedy show.  “Naira Marley dey advertise for NDLEA, looks like a skit to me,” the X user commented.Â
