Gunmen have attacked Powishi village in Billiri Local Government Area of Gombe State, killing one person, burning houses, and rustling livestock.
It was gathered that the attackers arrived on motorcycles early Thursday morning, killing one Malam Yusuf Akwara.
Confirming that attack in statement by the Gombe State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Buhari Abdullahi said that neighbours and security teams were able to extinguish the fires set by the attackers.
Abdullahi stated that security forces, including personnel from the 301 Artillery Regiment and the police, responded promptly, but the assailants had escaped before they arrived.
Meanwhile, the Gombe State Commissioner of Police, Hayatu Usman, accompanied by commanders from the 301 Artillery Regiment and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), visited the community to assess the damage and offer condolences.
The commissioner further stated that detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), along with officers from the Police Mobile Force and conventional police units had been deployed to track down and apprehend the perpetrators.
