The police spokesperson said disciplinary proceedings have commenced against the implicated officers.

The Nigerian police have identified and detained officers involved in the extortion of ₦2.3 million from one Mr. Ndubuisi Nwosu.

In a statement signed by DSP M.B. Abdulkadir, Police Public Relations Officer, for the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja on Thursday, it was confirmed that investigations had been carried out.

The police spokesperson said disciplinary proceedings have commenced against the implicated officers.

“The sum of Two Million Three Hundred Thousand Naira (N2,300,000) has been recovered and returned to Mr. Ndubuisi Nwosu,” the statement said.

The statement added, “Further to the earlier statement issued on the alleged extortion of one Mr. Ndubuisi Nwosu by some officers of Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, investigation was carried out, the officers allegedly involved in the extortion have been identified and detained, while disciplinary proceedings have commenced against them.”

Meanwhile, SaharaReporters earlier in November reported how an X user accused some officers from Zone 7 in Abuja of extorting N2.3 million from Nwosu Ndubuisi and forcing him to sell his laptop at the Banex Plaza in Abuja to pay for his bail.

He had lamented that police officers from zone 7 Abuja “forced me to sell him laptop to bail myself”.

He said he transferred N700,000 from his Opay account to the officers.

He said, “They came to my house fully armed and accused me of kidnapping, searched my house without a search warrant and found nothing, they took my laptop and emptied my Opay account.

“They took me to Banex plaza to sell my laptop which I used the money to bail myself out.

“They provided money point account 8219764152 belonging to Jemcy Enterprise and forcefully took N2,300,000.”
