President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerian teachers that under his watch as Nigeria’s President, they will get their due reward.

Tinubu said this on Thursday in a post X (formerly Twitter) as Nigeria joined other countries of the world to celebrate 2023 World Teachers’ Day.

The President said that there was no vehicle that could transport anyone to his/her destination as safely as education, saying education was the miracle that could change the fortune of a family in a single generation.

He said, “I believe that there’s no vehicle that can transport you to your destination as safely as education. It is the reason every child, regardless of their background, awaits a future of vast possibilities.

“As we celebrate Nigerian teachers on this year’s World Teacher’s Day, I would like to restate that under my watch, teachers will get their due reward. Education is the miracle that changes the fortune of a family in a single generation.”

SaharaReporters earlier reported that the candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi, charged President Tinubu’s administration to revolutionise Nigeria’s education sector and return about 22 million out-of-school children across the country back to school.

Obi had also called on the Tinubu government to celebrate teachers instead of celebrating people who contributed to the country’s problems.

He noted that the government should take the salaries of teachers in Nigeria seriously, ensure that they are paid as and when due, invest more in education and employ more teachers.
