France, believed to be in his 80s, was celebrated for his roles in films such as Cross My Sin, She Is My Sister and The Director.

Apopular Nigerian film actor, Emmanuel France, has been confirmed dead.

His death was announced by his colleague, Femi Ogedengbe via his Instagram page on Monday.

“Rest in peace to one of Nollywood’s legends, Uncle Emmanuel France,” Ogedengbe wrote. 

“One of the actors I took to Tanzania in 2006. We shot three movies together: Cross My Sin, She Is My Sister and The Director. R.I.P,” Ogedengbe wrote. 

As of the time of this report, the cause of France’s death remains unconfirmed.

His passing has left fans and colleagues in shock and grief, coming just days after the death of another Nollywood actor, Big Larry.

SaharaReporters had also reported the death of another film actor simply known as Big Larry on Friday. 

This had been announced in an Instagram post made by a movie producer, Stanley Nwoke

Nollywood actor big Lary just passed away. Je nke Oma big,” he wrote.

“What caused his demise is yet to be ascertain.

“May your soul rest in peace Big Lary. Nollywood Asaba Mourns. Shalom!!!”

Nigeria has lost many of its film-makersin recent times. Prominent of them were Mr Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor, Junior Pope, Sisi Quadri, and Ganiyu ‘Ogunjimi Oyeyemi.

Others who lost their lives include Olofa Ina, Adejumoke Aderounmu, Saratu Gidado, Reginald Ebere, Ethel Ekpe and Onyeka Onwenu.

In May, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) announced a four-day fasting and prayer session with Jerry Eze, the Streams of Joy International founder, against deaths in Nollywood.
