The Mumuye, tribesmen of a former Governor of Taraba State, Jolly Nyame, took to the streets in Jalingo yesterday to protest the 14-year jail term slammed on him by a high court.
The protesters, mostly youths, condemned the Federal High Court judgement which sent the three-time governor to prison over misappropriation of public funds.
The protesters who carried placards with different inscriptions were accompanied by the police in four white Hilux vans in a procession that passed through Hamaruwa and Barde ways and ended at Nyame’s residence.
Nyame was the first civilian Governor of Taraba State between 1990 and 1992.
