The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, marked a new chapter for the state following the tenure of outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki, who was notably absent from the event.

Monday Okpebholo has officially taken office as the Governor of Edo State, alongside his deputy, Dennis Idahosa.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, marked a new chapter for the state following the tenure of outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki, who was notably absent from the event.

The event was presided over by the Chief Justice of Edo State, Justice Daniel Okungbowa, who administered the oaths, marking the formal transition of leadership in the state.

Okpebholo and Idahosa both pledged to uphold the Nigerian Constitution and work diligently for the welfare of Edo residents.

Addressing the audience, Okpebholo expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead and promised to work tirelessly to advance Edo’s development.

Absent from the inauguration was outgoing governor, Godwin Obaseki, who did not attend the ceremony to formally hand over power to his successor.
