The development follows the recent controversial suspension of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, the Ondo South Senator.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended Engineer Folake Omogoroye, a female Governorship aspirant in the last primary election held on April 20, 2024.

The development follows the recent controversial suspension of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, the Ondo South Senator.

Omogoroye’s suspension was contained in a press release obtained by SaharaReporters on Tuesday, issued by the party executive committee in Ode Aye Ward 1, Okitipupa local government area of Ondo State.

The suspension letter which was signed by Akinsowola Awodele, Chairman of the ward, supported by 12 other exco members, stated Omogoroye was suspended due to “anti-party activities and flagrant disobedience for constituted authority of the party”.

It will be recalled that Omogoroye called for the cancellation of the governorship primary election recently held in the state, conducted under the headship of the Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Ododo.

Omogoroye had also threatened a court action if the exercise wasn’t cancelled by the party for alleged widespread absence of election across the state.

According to her, ”there was no election anywhere,” it’s complete rape of democracy.”

The aspirant lamented the absence of election officials and voting materials at voting centers, rendering her and her supporters unable to exercise their right to vote.

She had said that “despite her meticulous preparation and financial commitment to the party, she found herself circumvented to participate in the democratic process.

Omogoroye had therefore called on the party’s leader, President Bola Tinubu, to intervene and annul the purported election.

According to her, “President Bola Tinubu gave us women a renewed hope agenda that prompted me to go into the race with assurance that the election is going to be free and fair and that was why I went into this contest.

“But to my greatest surprise, the reverse is the case. I was on the field from 7am no election materials, were seen, not to talk of seeing any party officials or INEC officials and a voice came up that Aiyedatiwa has won, Aiyedatiwa has won.”

Similarly, four ward executives namely, Ayesan Tunde; the Organising Secretary, Jemiken Seyi; Assistant PRO, Adebayo Omobayo; the Assistant Welfare Secretary and Eweje Omotayo; Assistant Treasurer were also suspended.
