Submit your grievances to appeal panel, says APC
One Ifeoluwa Ehindero, at the weekend, emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the by-election to fill the vacant seat of Akoko North-West/North-East Federal Constituency.
Ehindero polled 105 votes to defeat eight other aspirants and emerged as the party’s standard-bearer at Victory College, Ikare-Akoko for the bye-election slated for February 3.
The federal constituency seat became vacant last year following the appointment of the erstwhile representative, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, by President Bola Tinubu as Minister of Interior.
Meanwhile, following the emergence of Ehindero, the eight other aspirants kicked against the process as they argued that the primary election lacked transparency.
According to them, the party failed to provide the delegates’ list before the conduct of the primary. Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Abdukadir M. Nasir, who said that they were duly provided with the delegates’ list for the election, urged the aspirants to table their grievances before the appeal committee, saying that the mandate of the electoral committee was to conduct the primary.
Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alex Kalejaye, said the appeal committee would start sitting in Akure, the state capital, to see to the grievances of the aspirants and urged them to submit their grievances to the panel.
In his reaction, one of the aspirants, Araoyinbo, said the aspirants had been schemed out, saying that the delegates’ list was generated by the party at the local council without the knowledge of the aspirants.
