Protesters from the Ondo Youth League have gathered at the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Maitama, Abuja, to demand the removal of the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ondo State, Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola, ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial election on November 16, 2024.

“Ondo Youth League protesting at the @inecnigeria office in Maitama, Abuja for the removal of INEC REC in Ondo State ahead of the November 16, 2024 Guber Election.”
SaharaReporters had reported that the REC said that no fewer than 295,603 Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) were yet to be collected in Ondo State.
Mrs Babalola, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state had stated this at a press briefing in Akure.
The REC had asserted that the owners could still come to collect them, stressing that another round of distribution of PVCs would commence on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at the designated centres across the state to perform their civic duties.
She noted that a total of 17,705 ad hoc staff and 11,799 security personnel would be engaged for the poll, which is coming up on November 16.
Oluwatoyin had affirmed that the commission was fully prepared to ensure that the forthcoming governorship election was free, fair and credible.
