SaharaReporters earlier reported how the National Assembly rescheduled Tinubu’s presentation of the 2025 budget estimates to a joint session of the legislature earlier scheduled for Tuesday to Wednesday.
The Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies have deployed their operatives to the National Assembly complex ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s presentation of the 2025 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the Assembly.
SaharaReporters earlier reported how the National Assembly rescheduled Tinubu’s presentation of the 2025 budget estimates to a joint session of the legislature earlier scheduled for Tuesday to Wednesday.
The development had been communicated by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Akpabio announced that the budget presentation would take place at the House of Representatives Chamber.
A circular on Monday stated that the budget presentation would no longer take place on Tuesday as rescheduled either.
The circular was addressed to all National Assembly staff, and confirmed the postponement but did not provide a reason for the change in the date.
The House of Representative management had also told all business operators and ancillary service providers, such as banks and food vendors, not to open for business.
Visitors and non-essential staff, members of the National Assembly have also been told to stay at home till after the presentation of the budget.
However, some members of staff on essential duty officers with accreditation tags and a few journalists are being allowed to gain entry into the complex.
Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, is expected to preside over the joint session alongside Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen.
The budget presentation will be Tinubu’s second budget estimate to the National Assembly having assumed office on May 29 2023.
