Nigerian First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu on Friday advocated for the implementation of capital punishment for kidnappers terrorising the country.

Oluremi, who is a former federal lawmaker said this while speaking to newsmen over the recent abduction of 287 pupils and others in Kaduna State.

The first lady said ‘Enough is enough’, adding that it was high time the government at all levels considered the implementation of punishment that would serve as a deterrent to other potential criminals.

She said, “I said it in my speech that whoever is kidnapping young people is sick, cruel and a coward. Enough is enough and I called on the state governor that once we take hold of them, they deserve capital punishment.

“Why didn’t they take people of their size? Why are they torturing children? What they are doing is trying to kill our future. We all know parents when we are old, we rely on our children.

“And we see them as our investment has not got waste, especially if they are successful. Why would you go and take them from school? Why? I don’t really know.”

“Right now, I think, enough is enough. As a former lawmaker, I believe that any of them captured deserves capital punishment. I said it and I believe most mothers will believe that. We carried them for nine months. When you are giving birth, you don’t know if you are going to live or die,” she added.

SaharaReporters on Thursday reported how 287 students and teachers were kidnapped by terrorists in Kuriga village, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
