Confirming the incident, the Chief Medical Director of the Specialist Hospital, Dr Attahiru Isa, expressed deep sorrow over the loss.

At least two medical doctors from the Specialist Hospital in Sokoto State, along with four other individuals, have lost their lives in a road accident along the Bodinga-Yabo road.

The victims, Dr. Anas Chika and Dr. Abubakar Liman Shehu, were travelling to Kebbi State on Sunday when their vehicle collided with an oncoming truck.

The accident claimed the lives of all six occupants in the car.

Confirming the incident, the Chief Medical Director of the Specialist Hospital, Dr Attahiru Isa, expressed deep sorrow over the loss.

He revealed that Dr Anas Chika was a member of the hospital’s Gynaecology Department, while Dr Abubakar Liman Shehu was attached to the General Out-patient Department (GOPD) and also served as the Chief Imam of the department.

“This is a devastating loss to the medical community and the families of the victims. Our hearts are with them during this difficult time,” Dr Isa said.

The state Specialist Hospital and government have expressed deep sorrow over the loss of two dedicated and humble doctors.

“We are truly heartbroken, but we accept it as the will of Allah,” he said.

“This is a tragedy that has deeply affected us. We pray that Allah grants them Jannatul Firdaus and gives their families the strength to bear this loss,” the Chief Medical Director added.

The deceased doctors were described as tireless professionals who remained committed to their work despite the heavy demands of the hospital’s busy units.

Dr Tijjani Farouk, a colleague, recalled spending time with the late doctors shortly before their passing during a staff verification exercise conducted by the state government.

“In fact, I gave a cup of tea to one of them,” he said, describing them as hardworking and deeply religious.

Dr Farouk Kabiru, chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in the state, confirmed the deaths and described the two as young, dedicated professionals.

“Their loss is a great blow to the medical community and the state. Their contributions to the health sector and humanity will be greatly missed,” he said.
