Three workers have been rescued as a three-storey building collapsed in Anambra State on Wednesday.
The building, which was at the roofing level near Diamond Pizza, opposite Five Star Eatery, along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway in Awka, was said to have collapsed around 5:25PM. There was no loss of life in the incident.
According to a resident of the area who witnessed the incident, there were a series of thunderous sounds heard and when people in the area rushed out to know the cause, they saw the building collapse completely.
Rescue operations started immediately, pulling out victims from the rubble. Passersby and commuters also joined in the efforts and assisted those injured.
The Officials of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) have visited the site of the incident.
The agency has already constituted a panel of inquiry to determine the remote and immediate cause of the collapse and announced that further details would be communicated to the public as things unfold.
